The end of trading for Day 1 at the Paris Air Show 2025 happened a few hours ago, offering a solid start for Airbus, with Boeing lagging behind.
For the European planemaker, it has been a busy day, and have effectively stolen the first day’s proceedings.
Without further ado, let’s get into it…
Solid Start for Airbus…
AviLease Kicks off Proceedings…
Airbus pretty much stole the first day’s proceedings of the Paris Air Show 2025, through four order announcements.
The first order revealed was with AviLease, the global aircraft lessor connected to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).
They revealed an order for 10 Airbus A350 Freighters and 30 A320neo Family aircraft.
Furthermore, the agreement also includes the lessor to increase the orderbook to 22 A350Fs and 55 A320neos.
Riyadh Air Orders Widebodies…
The shopping from the PIF didn’t stop with Airbus, as they then moved onto their next project: Riyadh Air.
As part of the Vision 2030 strategy, Riyadh Air placed an order for 25 A350-1000 aircraft, with the option for another 25 on top.
Furthermore, this means that the airline will have a long-haul fleet of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and A350-1000 aircraft.
This means that the PIF have effectively made another 65 firm orders, with the total after options included meaning another 127 aircraft to their orderbook.
ANA Holdings Orders A321neo Family Aircraft…
At this point, Airbus wasn’t done yet at the Paris Air Show 2025 – they moved the theme over to the narrowbody side of business.
ANA Holdings placed a firm order for 24 A321neo and three A321XLR aircraft.
Furthermore, this broke down into 14 A321neos for the mainline ANA carrier and 10 A321neos and three A321XLRs for it’s subsidiary Peach Aviation.
This means that Peach Aviation will become the first Japanese operator of the A321XLR.
At this stage, it is unclear what routes Peach will operate these XLR aircraft on.
LOT Makes Historic Order…
The final order of the day was a surprising one, and will no doubt be a blow to Boeing.
Airbus revealed a firm order with LOT Polish Airlines for 20 A220-100s and 20 A220-300s.
Moreover, options are included in this deal to increase the orderbook to 84 A220 aircraft.
This is a major scalp from the European planemaker, particularly with LOT Polish Airlines traditionally being a customer to Boeing.
It is also symbolic because this is the first time that the Polish carrier has ordered from Airbus as well.
Overall, it hasn’t been a bad haul from Airbus on Day 1, selling a total of 238 aircraft in their agreements (Firm + Options).
Boeing Unsurprisingly Lags At The Paris Air Show 2025…
Boeing, has unsurprisingly, and as expected, not logged a single order today for the Paris Air Show 2025, with Airbus eclipsing them.
This isn’t at the fault of Boeing, who are at this time are probably being cautious in terms of media attention.
Last Friday, an Air India 787 Dreamliner crashed moments after departure from Ahmedabad.
This has unfortunately taken the lives of 274 people, 240 of which were onboard the aircraft.
As a result of the accident, senior Boeing executives have been on standby to assist in the investigation as the preliminary stages begin.
It is unclear whether this altered the marketing and sales strategy for the American planemaker at the air show, but all eyes will be on whether they choose to reveal anything in terms of orders.
Nothing Logged for ATR as of Yet…
ATR at the Paris Air Show 2025, like with Boeing, has started Day 1 with no orders publicly announced.
However, they could very well be keeping their cards to their chest at this moment.
Traditionally, any orders they reveal are significant, as seen in rumour mill recently.
Last week, it was reported that Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo is considering making an order for up to 50 ATR 72-600 aircraft.
It is believed that the Indian carrier will be looking to spend between $450m-750m on regional aircraft to bolster their domestic network further.
So for the regional planemaker, it is very much the case of all eyes on what the rest of the air show will hold for them.
Embraer Records Orders, But Not for Day 1…
Embraer, like with Boeing & ATR, didn’t log any orders for Day 1 of the Paris Air Show 2025. However, this comes with a twist.
They prematurely announced an order yesterday via a pre-show conference.
At the moment, they have secured a deal with Revo for 50 units of it’s EVE Air Mobility aircraft.
This landmark deal outlines the purchase of up to 50 electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
Eve Air will support the acquisition with comprehensive entry-into-service and aftermarket support.
The agreement marks a key moment for Embraer’s Eve, transitioning from the development phase to operational execution.
The bulk sale reinforces its position as a leader in next-generation UAM solutions.
What will be interesting to see is whether any orders are revealed for it’s E2 program or not.
Like with ATR, it probably will be the case of “watch this space” as well.
What Has Day 1 of the Paris Air Show Told Us?

And just like that, Day 1 of the Paris Air Show 2025 is already complete, with Airbus asserting it’s dominance over Boeing early on.
As stated, a level of caution is no doubt being taken by the American planemaker based on last week’s events.
There will be more anticipation into whether ATR and Embraer will score any orders over the official trading period.
It will be interesting to see whether the IndiGo rumour mill ends up being true, as that would be a big boost for the regional aircraft manufacturer.
For Embraer, scoring more orders for the E2 will be vitally important, particularly based on their showcasing of the product at the Farnborough Air Show last year.
All eyes will turn to Day 2 tomorrow bright and early.
