American Airlines has announced five new routes to Europe and expanded service to South America, for the summer 2026 travel season.
From the historic charm of Prague (PRG) to the only nonstop U.S. service to Budapest (BUD), these routes make it easier than ever to cross the Atlantic or head south.
The airline is also adding flights to popular spots like Athens (ATH), Milan (MXP), and Zurich (ZRH), while boosting summer service to Buenos Aires (EZE).
Whether a history buff, a soccer fan, or dreaming of a Tokyo adventure, American Airlines has travellers covered.
Exploring Central Europe
Starting in May 2026, American Airlines will launch new routes from Philadelphia (PHL) to Budapest and Prague.
These cities, rich in medieval architecture and cultural treasures, are perfect for travelers seeking unique experiences.
Budapest delights with its soothing thermal baths and scenic dinner cruises along the Danube River. Meanwhile, Prague’s enchanting Vltava River and historic streets offer a fairy-tale escape.
With these additions, American’s PHL hub will connect to 20 trans-Atlantic destinations, reinforcing its commitment to a robust international network.
New Flights to Europe’s Favorites
American Airlines is expanding its reach to two European hotspots: Athens and Milan. Beginning in May 2026, daily flights from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Athens will give travelers access to Greece’s rich history and delicious cuisine.
With this route, American will offer nonstop flights to Athens from five U.S. cities, more than any other airline.
Whether you’re exploring ancient ruins or hopping to a Greek island, Athens is a must-visit.

Starting in March 2026, daily service from Miami (MIA) to Milan (MXP) will connect two dynamic cities. Known for its fashion, art, and architecture, Milan is a traveler’s dream.
This new route, the only nonstop link between Miami and Milan, complements American’s existing Miami-Rome service, which began in 2025.
As MIA’s largest carrier, American continues to strengthen its presence in this vibrant hub.
Score Big with Soccer Travel
Soccer fans, get ready to cheer! American Airlines is launching limited-time service between DFW and Zurich (ZRH) from May 21 to August 4, 2026, offering the only nonstop connection between these cities.
This route is perfect for fans heading to Dallas-Fort Worth for a major global soccer event. Additionally, American is expanding summer service to Buenos Aires (EZE), with four weekly flights from DFW and up to three daily flights from MIA.
These routes make it easy for fans to travel to and from Argentina and Switzerland for the world’s premier sporting spectacle.

Premium Travel to Tokyo
For those eyeing an Asian adventure, American Airlines is also boosting premium travel options to Tokyo (HND).
Compared to summer 2025, the airline will increase premium seating capacity from DFW and Los Angeles (LAX) by over 45%.

Business class travelers can look forward to enhanced comfort with pajamas and mattress pads on all widebody flights to East Asia, the Middle East, India, Australia, and New Zealand.
Inflight dining includes chef-inspired multicourse meals, award-winning wines, and tasty snacks to satisfy midflight cravings.
Conclusion
“Europe remains a top summer destination for our customers, and these new routes make it easier to explore,” said Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning.
“We’re thrilled to introduce Prague and Budapest to our network and enhance premium experiences to Tokyo.”
