Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national airline, is broadening its global reach by adding seven new destinations to its network. This reinforces Abu Dhabi’s status as a key hub for tourism, culture, and commerce.
The expansion follows the recent withdrawal of operations by Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, allowing Etihad to strengthen its point-to-point traffic strategy and connect more travellers directly to the UAE capital.
New Routes from Abu Dhabi
The new routes will connect Abu Dhabi to Almaty, Kazakhstan; Baku, Azerbaijan; Bucharest, Romania; Medina, Saudi Arabia; Tbilisi, Georgia; Tashkent, Uzbekistan; and Yerevan, Armenia.
These destinations, rich in culture and history, will cater to diverse traveller interests, from spiritual journeys to vibrant city escapes.
Flights to Medina will commence in November 2025, with the remaining routes starting in March 2026. Tickets will be available for purchase in the coming days.
This announcement brings Etihad’s total new destinations for 2025 to an impressive 27, including year-round and seasonal routes.
The airline has already launched flights to Prague, Warsaw, Sochi, and Atlanta this year and plans to introduce 13 additional routes before 2025 ends.
Just days ago, Etihad revealed three seasonal summer destinations for 2026: Krakow, Poland; Salalah, Oman; and Kazan, Russia, all tailored for peak travel periods.

Antonoaldo Neves, Etihad’s CEO, emphasized the airline’s commitment to Abu Dhabi’s growth. “Our aim is to bring more visitors directly to Abu Dhabi,” he said. “These new routes connect culturally rich, fast-growing regions to our hub, boosting tourism and trade.”
