When is the next double XP weekend in MW3?

The latest double XP weekend in MW3 began on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, for PlayStation players. Conversely, the double XP weekend for other platforms – meaning Xbox and PC gamers – started on Thursday, December 21, 2023. The event has now started back up again for all platforms, following an announcement by developer Sledgehammer Games.

This has now been confirmed via the in-game event tab and through X (formerly Twitter) posts from CoD accounts like CharlieIntel. Though Activision and Sledgehammer Games failed to announce the event beforehand, its appearance within the MW3 hub itself, along with its similarity to the previous double XP weekend, indicated its likelihood.

For those unfamiliar, the last double XP weekend in MW3 took place on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT. This XP boost promo was also relatively longer compared to previous events, as it ended on Monday, November 27, 2023, at the same time.

When will the current double XP weekend end in MW3?

According to an X post from Sledgehammer Games, the current double XP weekend will end on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT. This means PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players will have over a week to grind out their account levels to unlock even more weapons, attachments, accessories, and more.

Before the dev team announced the current XP weekend’s end date, Activision and Sledgehammer Games had surprisingly deactivated it. This led many to believe that it was only meant to last for a couple of days. Though the reason for its temporary deactivation remains unknown, it seems to have just been a minor hiccup on the developer’s end, as players can now enjoy the extra XP for several days.

In addition, the Monster Energy x Call of Duty event from November 10 offers multiple 2XP rewards. Earn up to 1 hour and 45 minutes of double XP gains over 7 reward tiers. Note that to participate, players need to purchase Monster Energy Drink cans with the Call of Duty event label.

Double XP weekends let you earn twice as much XP as usual in matches. This includes working towards objectives or taking down enemies across MW3’s multiplayer modes. You’ll notice unique indicators highlighting “Double XP” events when they occur. Usually, they are automatically applied for a specific weekend, which is announced in advance. 

Note that you cannot use Double XP tokens during a Double XP weekend and stack these effects up. So save these tokens for regular days when there’s no such promotion.
